Silver Spoon BBQ

Silver+Spoon+BBQ

Recently rebranded from Brown Rice Thai Co, Silver Spoon Thai BBQ located near Sprouts in Diamond Bar, has revamped the local restaurant to add BBQ fusion to the menu.

Upon arriving at the destination, we were rather skeptical of the location as it looked run down and isolated. However, upon entering the establishment, we were welcomed by the freshly painted walls and a lively selection of plants, giving the place a comforting ambiance. We immediately took notice of the cleanliness of the environment and were seated quickly.

Once seated, the waiter immediately brought over plates, utensils and two glasses of water. We ordered a selection of dishes including Cream Cheese Wontons ($12.95), Pad See Ew ($14.95) and Mixed Veggies ($13.95). However, for the price of the items, the portions were rather disappointing in size.

Upon first impression, the Cream Cheese Wontons were rather tiny. However, the wrapper of the wonton was satisfyingly crispy and the wontons itself coupled with sweet and sour sauce were delectable, though it was overpowered by the abundance of cream cheese. Safe to say, these Cream Cheese Wontons were not up to par compared to the Cream Cheese Wontons from other restaurants such as Thai Twist in Chino Hills.

In hopes to redeem our disappointment, we moved onto tasting the Pad See Ew, already enthused by the rich aroma of the noodles’ soy sauce that filled the air. Digging into the dish, we were pleased with the sweet and sour sauce complemented by the chewy texture of the noodles. The addition of chicken and broccoli not only added a nice crunch, but also paired perfectly with the plate.

Our last plate, the Mixed Veggies ($13.95), were sauteed vegetables drizzled with a savory light brown sauce with an optional side of tofu. It came steaming with mushrooms, cabbage, beansprouts, carrots and broccoli. The vegetables were fresh and the mushrooms were especially juicy and abundant. The flavors harmonized impeccably with each other and each bite burst with tangy goodness.

Despite the underwhelming portion sizes, the dishes were well seasoned and the quality of the food made up for it. Everything considered, Silver Spoon Thai BBQ is a great place to grab a quick meal with friends and family. The restaurant’s swift service and foods are definitely worth trying for any food lover.
