Brahmas defeat the Wildcats in style

Maintaining an undefeated four-game record, the Diamond Bar High School football team have extended their streak after a win in a home game against the Wilson Wildcats last Friday, Sep. 16.

Senior running back and linebacker Isaiah Young led the offensive rotation with 11 carries and 154 rushing yards and one touchdown.

On the other side of the play, numerous scoring opportunities for the Wildcats were halted by the combined efforts of sophomore outside linebacker and defensive end Max Eoh with 11 tackles and senior defensive end Julian Martinez with 10 tackles.

Young gave the Brahmas an early first quarter lead after a 70-yard rushing touchdown. Although there were multiple possession changes throughout the rest of the quarter, no other scores were made.

The Wildcats opened the second quarter with a touchdown and successful PAT of their own, tying the game at 7-7. Shortly after, senior wide receiver Maddox Bernardino gave the Brahmas the lead after a 63-yard punt return touchdown, setting the halftime score at 14-7.

The Brahmas added onto their lead through the third quarter after a one-yard rushing touchdown made by sophomore quarterback Quinton Mendoza. Both teams struggled to make any offensive progression, ending the third quarter at a score of 21-7.

In the final quarter, Mendoza sealed Diamond Bar’s victory after a 35-yard reception touchdown to sophomore wide receiver Kai Jenkins.

With a 5-1 overall record, the Brahmas will play the Rowland Raiders at home on Friday.
