Natividad, new GLC for c/o 2016

Marc Natividad, familiar to most Brahmas as track coach and math teacher, will take up a new role this year as Diamond Bar High School’s guidance counselor for this year’s junior class. He was officially appointed to the job on June 16.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the Class of 2016, to continue to help them establish, plan, and achieve their personal and professional goals. I know Mr. Gonzales has done a lot to help these students already and I have been working with him to get an understanding of these students so I can support them with anything that may arise or that’s ongoing,” Natividad said.

Natividad grabbed the opportunity after Class of 2016’s former guidance counselor, Richard Gonzales, replaced retiring Jon Goode as the senior Grade Level Coordinator, leaving the spot open for potential candidates. After recently obtaining his Pupil Personnel Services Credential and Masters of Science in Counseling at CSUSB, Natividad took up the prospect.

The application process that followed was a lengthy one, requiring multiple letters of recommendation, essays and interviews. After the long process, Natividad was chosen as the GLC and began last week. He looks forward to watching students grow and helping them succeed in the future.

In addition to his time spent at Diamond Bar, Natividad was also a Special Education teacher at Chaparral Middle School. With his vast experience as a mentor, he strives to ensure students’ happiness and prosperity.

“My students and athletes have come to know me as an individual who is passionate about helping others achieve their best. My hope is that I can do this on a larger scale as a GLC. I am excited about working with students and teachers using a different medium to help those who I am entrusted achieve their best,” Natividad said.
