On Aug. 15, 2025, the class of 2026 had their one and only senior sunrise starting at 5:30 in the morning. A surplus of seniors rallied at the football field in the early morning, covering most of the football field. The class committee supplied various amounts of food and drinks such as; Uncrustables, croissants, donuts and CapriSuns.
Throughout the morning countless photos were taken, videos were filmed, and many had an overall positive experience. It seemed everyone was having a positive time enjoying one another’s company.
“It was a great time talking to everyone of all different groups,” senior Daniel Lee said. “I was talking to friends that I sometimes haven’t talked to in a long time or that I don’t often run into.”
Although there was no sunset, that did not stop the seniors from enjoying the moment. Many recorded the morning as the beginning of the end of their high school experience.
“I often bring my camcorder around with me,” senior Edison Chan said. “I like to record memorable events like concerts and I thought it would be a fun idea to record and create a video for senior sunrise. I only wish there was a sunset to record.”
Before the start of the sunrise some friend groups partook in breakfast before going to school. Many people enjoyed a Starbucks drink or went to other fast breakfast locations.
“Me and my friends all got McDonalds that morning, we planned to get there around 5,” senior Aston Mendoza said. “After ordering we ended up being a little late to senior sunrise, but it was so worth it.”
Class committee advisors Ms. Elena Vasquez-Campbell and Ms. Colleen Logasa went out of her way to attend the senior sunrise. They helped serve the snacks to the seniors bright and early at 5 in the morning.
“The morning was a little stressful, but it was really great to see a lot of students from the senior class come together, hang out with their friends, and watch the non-existent sunrise,” said class advisor Ms. Logasa.
As a senior myself, the senior sunrise will be a lasting memory, and I was surprised at the amount of students that attended. I look forward to attending all the events that come with senior year.
