For the fourth time in six years, Diamond Bar High School has hired a new head football coach, this time in the person of Santiago High School defensive coordinator Jeff Reitz.

Reitz comes in following the resignation of Kevin Argumosa, who posted an 0-10 record in his lone season with DB. At Santiago, located in Corona, the team went 7-4 last year and reached the first round of the CIF Playoffs.

Through an extensive process in which over 20 candidates applied for the position and six were interviewed, Reitz was selected.

“[Reitz] has extensive experience and has been a head coach before. He’s worked with other programs and turned them around from a losing culture,” Athletic Director Albert Lim said. “He’s also a teacher, and we wanted an on-campus presence.”

Coming in with over 30 years of coaching  and eight years of head coaching experience, Reitz hopes to turn around a program that went 11-39 in its last four seasons.

Reitz’s selection still needs to receive district approval, which is expected this month.
