The blazing heat has been coming on strong for the past three months, and Southern California Edison has been remarkably resilient—until now. On Friday, Oct. 9, all power went out in areas of Diamond Bar, Walnut, and other surrounding cities for almost eight hours. The Diamond Bar High School choir department, scheduled to perform their annual fall concert at 7 p.m., was forced to cancel their show.

After around two hours of last-minute practice for the concert, the members were disappointed to hear from their advisor, Patty Breitag, that the electricity would not be fixed in time for their show.

“Canceling the concert was obviously unfortunate, but at the end of the day, the choir department is very resilient and adaptable to change, so we’re just glad we have the opportunity to prove how flexible we are,” President Nicolas Zhou said.

The show has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.
