Drama Offers Showcase on Friday

What better way to cool off after a stressful week of final exams than attending a Fall Drama Showcase? This Friday,  all drama classes will perform, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Diamond Bar High School’s theater.

The showcase is being held for the first time ever and will allow all drama classes, including beginning classes, time in the spotlight. The night will be a mix of various scenes, monologues, and music.

One of the scenes being presented includes a piece from a popular play, “Moon Over Buffalo,” which will include performances from seniors Akshay Venugopalan and Kyu Seo Ahn. Junior Aditya Joshi will also be performing one of the 10 monologues.

“I’m very excited. I don’t quite know what to expect because it’s the first time we’re doing this, ever. But I’m very excited to perform and be on stage,” Joshi said.

The showcase will also include scenes from classics, such as Sophocles’ “Antigone” and Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” In addition, music will be performed by freshmen Mason Soldridge, Kylene Allen, and Hannah Sevillano.

Tickets are sold online and at the event for $5.

The production is meant to showcase what fifth period drama has been working on for the semester and “give beginning drama a chance to get involved and perform,” Drama teacher Beatrice Casagran said.
