Universes have collided in the new film “Deadpool and Wolverine,” delivering irreverent charm clashing with primitive humor through a brutal intensity action-packed ride, which conveys a new method of superhero storytelling. After the long-awaited delay of the third production of Deadpool to finally ensue, this summer on July 26th, “Deadpool and Wolverine” finally released in theaters worldwide. The compelling opening of the movie kicks off to a pretty gruesome start, as Deadpool happens to be fighting the Time Variance Authority (TVA) for a certain reason. As Deadpool breaks the fourth wall acting very poised, he leads the hefty introduction to explain events before this opening sequence, with his conspicuous and cheeky wit.
As more recurring events occur, Deadpool finally meets Wolverine, however a variant of the original Wolverine. The two go through many belligerent brawls together, learning to trust each other and find a way to overtake the antagonist of the movie, Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin. The duo begins to achieve the skills of working dependently, rather than independently over the course of the movie.
The scenes throughout this movie are quite riveting, artfully entwining two polar opposite characters with contrasting elements and personalities that is only dissonant in most angles.
Throughout the movie, there are some frequent jarring scenes of gruesome fights, however it showcases the different styles of fighting of Deadpool and Wolverine. Wolverine’s gravelly demeanor perfectly fits into Deadpool’s humorous, frivolous behavior like salt and pepper.
There were many unforeseen cameos, which truly shines the entirety of the story as engaging, keeping the audience anticipating for more. Nostalgic characters with memorable stories were featured to truly emphasize the depth of importance to the movie, encapsulating everyone’s dynamic together as a harmonizing group.
The tone of the storyline was also seamlessly shifting around emotions, bound to laughter of crude humor or the heartfelt emotions that were included without a miss of a beat.
Not only was the story flawless, but the cinematography was exceptional. The camera work truly captures the ambience of each character, creating a visual delicacy to watch. All the action scenes are highly-executed, making all parts of the film feel as with depth and perspective.
“Deadpool and Wolverine” was surely a successful triumph, despite the grisly fight scenes and a somewhat confusing timeline of Marvel events. The movie ended with a much satisfying conclusion, respecting both character’s endings to their own journeys to lead – leaving open-ended possibilities for the audience.
