Among the many activities for Branding Iron Week, the Night Rally stands out by drumming up school spirit for the anticipated game against rival Walnut High School. The night rally involves several different activities, which include performances, a live DJ, and food. The night rally, like other events, required much planning, time, and effort from USB to properly set up these events.
“We planned the rally for about 4-6 weeks and it took a lot to communicate with all our vendors with lighting, movie screen, music, and food vendors.” Rallies and Assemblies Commissioner Eugena Kang said. “We also had to communicate with teachers and the performing groups on campus to make sure we were all on the same page.”
After much planning and promoting the night rally, Kang and her partner, Kennedy Cho, were satisfied with the relatively positive reception to the night rally.
“I know with my partner and I’s hard work will definitely pay off,” Choe said. “The vibe is definitely different but we are hoping that, with everything we included, everyone has a great time.”
The night rally is one of the highlights of the year for USB, as they got to help drum up support for football in the annual match-up against their district rival.
“The Branding Iron Night Rally was really exciting to plan and one of our favorites to plan since it was focused on the rivalry football game,” Kang said. “We really enjoyed getting the student section and ourselves hyped for the game on Friday.”
With high hopes for this year, many in USB promoted the game as much as possible before and during the game with things such as lunchtime activities, spirit days, and social media promotions.
“I plan on hyping up the Branding Iron at the rally to the max,” Choe said. “I will always put forth my 110% not just at the rally but at the game as well.”
