Swinging into the new season hot, Diamond Bar High School girls golf clenched ninth out of 18 teams in the National Brophy Golf tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.
To prepare for a tough season ahead, the team played against higher-level opponents in various tournaments.
“Our team is young but comes in with a lot of talent,” head coach Roberta Garcia said. “I have high hopes that they have the competitive drive that is needed to be successful in our league.”
After practicing at Mountain Meadows golf course four days a week throughout the season, the team came into the Hacienda League prepared. However, there is still room for improvement within the team.
“We’re a really good team,” sophomore Chloe Lam said. “We just need to improve and become closer together.”
With the season now in full swing, the team hopes for both improvement and success as they continue to strive toward their goal of winning the Hacienda League championship and making it to CIF play.
“For the rest of the season, I hope to just get better and our golf team gets closer, and we have a lot of fun,” Lam said.
The team plays their first league match against Los Altos High School on Tuesday Sept. 19th at Whittier Narrows Golf Course.
