Horror parks overview
Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights
Adding to its lineup of 10 mazes this year, Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights now offers new mazes such as “Killer Klownz from Outer Space,” “Stranger Things” and Jordan Peele’s “Us.” In addition, visitors can visit the “Ghostbusters” attraction and walk through the iconic firehouse headquarters featured in the original movie. For Horror Nights, areas of Main Street in the “Fallen Angelz” scare zone will be “haunted” by ghouls and skeletons while Universal’s popular “The Walking Dead” attraction will return. The event continues through Sunday from 7 p.m.to 2 a.m. with general admission ranging from $72 to $99.
Knott’s Scary Farm
With its 47th annual Halloween event, Knott’s Scary Farm introduced two new mazes this year with an additional improv comedy show, “Puppet Up! Uncensored,” which features muppet performers from the Jim Henson Company performing in shows exclusive to adults. The new mazes include “Wax Works,” which takes place in an abandoned wax museum, and “Origins: The Curse of Calico” which tells the story of the haunting of Sarah Marshall, who was put on trial for witchcraft. Scare zones from previous Halloween events have also made their return to Knott’s Scary Farm 2019 such as Ghost Town Streets, CarnEVIL, the Hollow and Forsaken Lake. In addition, Knott’s Scary Farm will have its seasonal decoration of the Timber Mountain Log Ride. The event runs through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. with tickets costing around $45.
Six Flags Fright Fest
Zombies and ghouls can be found lurking in this year’s Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Fright Fest 2019 introduced two new events this year: a new monstertainment performance, “Sliders of the Night,” and a new maze, “Vault 666 Unlocked,” which takes place inside a haunted antique shop. There will also be scare zones like “City Under Siege,” which takes place in the DC Universe, and “Demon’s Doors,” an area inhabited by demonic creatures. Besides scare zones and entertainment, Six Flags will keep their rides open during Fright Fest to add on to the thrilling experience such as Terror on Twisted Colossus, Full Throttle Fears, Goliath in the Dark and more. The Halloween event will be open until Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight with tickets pricing as low as $68.
