Four students suspended after FBLA State Leadership Conference
Four Diamond Bar High School students were suspended for allegedly drinking at the hotel they were staying at during the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference in Sacramento, according to students familiar with the situation.
After an empty bottle of vodka was found in a room Diamond Bar students were staying in at the Holiday Inn Express, several students were questioned and then not allowed to attend the rest of the conference. The alcohol was discovered in a search of the room after a female student was discovered to have been in a room with boys after curfew the night before, according to sources.
The incident was reported to DBHS administration by FBLA adviser Sabrina Ruiz-Emmons and other chaperones. Ruiz-Emmons declined to comment on the situation.
The students were questioned by administration upon returning from the trip on April 29.
Three seniors and a junior received one-week suspensions, which they served April 29-May 3. Another junior was in the room at the time of the incident but reportedly did not drink and was not suspended.
About 40 DBHS members of FBLA attended the annual conference held April 25-28.
