5th Annual Evening of Colors
Raising about $10,000 every year, the 5th Annual Evening of Colors helps fund many different school programs and activities.
The banquet style dinner, which is organized by Diamond Bar High School’s South American Parent Association took place March 8 at the Diamond Palace Cuisine of India.
“Getting familiar with our school leadership and the board of education is great for parents of students, and getting familiar with the city leadership is something advantageous for the residents and community members,” SAPA parent Sarbani Sharma said via email.
At the event, multiple groups from DBHS performed, including commercial music, drumline, Indian Culture Club and band. ICC performed a Bollywood Dance showcase, and afterward invited attendees to dance along. There was also a henna tattoo station and a raffle for a chance to win a gift basket.
“My experience was wonderful as always,” ICC co-president senior Anaaya Shah said. “The SAPA ladies hosted a wonderful event with great food and music.
SAPA usually takes around three months to prepare the event, with fundraising beginning as early as October to receive corporate donations. Money is also raised through ticket sales, with ticket prices at $35 per person and $300 a table.
The event was advertised through personal invitations, emails and different organizations, garnering an attendance of 250 people. Some attendees included Diamond Bar council members, DBHS staff and other Diamond Bar community members.
“We hope to connect the the educational community with the business and residents of our city together,” Sharma said.
Through prior EOCs, SAPA directed the money raised toward the specific school organizations requested by the association. In the past, the funds have been donated to the DBHS STEAM program, AP testing facilities, overhead projectors, computer carts and more.
“We hope for a successful event with the maximum attendance that will lead to high fundraising collections,” Sharma said.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Diamond Bar High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
