Brahmas suffers second loss of the preseason
In their first game since the Branding Iron loss, the Brahmas were neck-and-neck with the Bonita Bearcats after the first quarter of Friday’s game. But after back-to-back touchdowns by the Bearcats in the second quarter, things started to go south.
Diamond Bar suffered its second loss of the preseason, 62-20.
Bonita opened the scoring with a 65-yard rushing touchdown with nine minutes left to go in the first quarter, but Diamond Bar was able to respond similarly, with Jeremiah Chukwudobe rushing for a 41-yard TD. Both teams’ defense held each other from scoring for the rest of the first quarter, as it ended 7-7.
Early in the second quarter, Bonita intercepted a DB pass, running it back for a touchdown. The PAT was good, putting them ahead 14-7. The Bearcat’s momentum carried on for the rest of the quarter, as they scored three more touchdowns. The Bearcats lead 34-7 to end the first half.
The Brahmas were able to recover from their scoring drought in the third, with a rushing TD from Chukwudobe and a touchdown pass from Dylan Karanickolas to Kai Smith. However, the stronger Bearcats were able to match them, responding with two touchdowns of their own. The third quarter ended with Bonita maintaining their large lead, 48-20.
The last quarter of the game was similar to the second, with the Brahmas unable to find their offensive niche and the Bearcats dominating.
The Brahmas play their third preseason game Friday at Claremont.
