Spring Fashion
May 18, 2017
“Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking.” This iconic quote said by Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada” should be ringing through the ears of anyone hoping to revamp their look before the sunny season. This spring, raise your fashion game up a level by straying away from basic trends such as lace and floral.
Perhaps try an edgy graphic tee to get your point across and lighten up the mood of your wardrobe. The shirts can be funny and sarcastic; or have the logo of a band or celebrity. If you want a more cutting edge look, you can purchase this piece two sizes larger and wear it as a T-shirt dress. Either way, have fun with the trend, while making a statement with the tee.
For those who want a girlier look, throw a slip dress over your graphic tee or even a plain white crop top. Not only will you look totally 90’s chic, you will also be comfortable. This look can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
As for colors, yellow is making a major comeback this season and can be seen in the shapes of skirts, denim jackets and dresses. All shades of yellow pair nicely with both light and dark denim. Either way, a pop of yellow in your outfits will brighten up your closet and your mood.
An amazing unisex piece that has also made a major comeback this season is overalls. Long, short or somewhere in between, overalls can easily be paired with a cute top or an edgy long sleeved shirt. If you’re hitting the beach, wear your swimsuit underneath, as your overalls will make for a trendy before and after beach outfit while walking down the pier with your friends.
One of my favorite trends this season is the three quarter dress. These dresses fall just below your knee and are normally extremely lightweight. This dress is uber changeable and can be worn a million different ways. If it gets chilly, pair a three-quarter dress with a long sleeve tee and some cute sneakers. If the sun peeks through the clouds, you can wear this dress with a pair of platform sandals.
Speaking of platforms, they are also on the list of comebacks from the 90’s and early 2000’s era. Whether the platforms are sandals or sneakers, it is an easy way to make your look trendier and give you a couple extra inches of height.
When it comes to accessories this season, handkerchiefs and fanny packs are all the rage, as festival season is right around the corner. If you don’t feel like going overboard with a fanny pack, a mini backpack can be a cute alternative, and it will stay out of the way while you are dancing to the beat of your favorite songs.
