I walk home everyday and I go to the gym every Sunday with my parents and my brother. At the gym, I have a thirty minute workout with my personal trainer, which focuses on weightlifting. After that, I exercise with my parents and brother for 30 minutes. Exercising with my family builds bonds with them. I work out with my family, and do cardio for 30 minutes. Everyday, I walk back home after school, it definitely helps with stress more than anything else, because it’s after school and you can relax. It’s peaceful, and it takes me 30 minutes to walk back everyday.

Working out gives you more energy and also, you can eat more after that. My goal is pretty general, I just want to be fit and be able to eat more.

Work out per week: 3.5

My friends and I work out a lot together, just for fun since it makes us feel better. We go on the treadmill, do some squats, weights, swim and go on hikes. My friends and I don’t have a set schedule. We do exercises based on what we think about in the moment, like push ups then sit ups or squats. In the summer, I used to go every weekend but since school started, I go hiking once a month.

I don’t really have a goal. For me, exercising isn’t really for my appearance; it’s more for my mentality. I feel more relieved and stress free than normal. That’s when I know I did a good workout. There’s something else to think about besides just school.

Work out per week: 8 hours

Natalie Santiago, Sophomore

I work out to improve myself at my sport. I’m a triathlete, and  I do cross country, basketball and track, which varies with each season. Since I’m in three sports, I have different routine for each sport. In cross country, we’ll go on a long run once a season In cross country, on Mondays and Thursdays, we have long distance runs, which is five to six miles. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we have speed workouts. In track, we can’t go off school campus so we just run the track and the baseball fields. Occasionally, we have weight room conditioning. In basketball, we don’t have set workouts, but some days we work on dribbling and passing and scrimmaging and learning the plays.Through exercising, I am able to relieve stress and improve my endurance when I work out long distance, and I can improve my speed during short distance.

My main goal of my exercising isn’t necessarily to stay fit, but to excel at the sports that I am in. Being healthy is really important, so everyone should try to work out as much as they can.

Work out per week: 12 hours

I work on a different body part everyday. Monday is chest and triceps. Tuesday is back and biceps. Wednesday is legs and stretching. Thursday is shoulders, and Friday is legs. I spend an average 2 hours a day, so 14 hours a week. I like exercising because, at a certain point in my life, I wasn’t comfortable with my body. I wanted to change and make myself happy. I’m happy now, and it has improved my self-confidence. My end goal is to become toned. I like to use free weights so I can become stronger.
