Student Antonio Hull Partakes in National Signing Day

A Diamond Bar football star will be shopping for winter clothes earlier than normal this year. Senior Antonio Hull has committed to play football at the University of Wyoming for the next four years. Hull participated in the annual National Signing Day event and signed his letter of intent with the Cowboys. The Brahma is expected to play defensive back and as a kick-return specialist.
The Cowboys will be gaining a standout athlete. In the 2014 season, the 5’11” senior was all over the field for the 3-7 Brahmas. Hull compiled 1278 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on offense, with two of them coming on special teams. On the defensive side of the ball, the senior had 38 tackles and one fumble recovery.
Hull started his high school career playing for the West Covina Bulldogs and garnered interests from Pac-12 colleges after his sophomore season. When Hull transferred to DB in 2013, the expectations for upcoming season were off the chart for DB since the team consisted of Cordell Broadus, Cameron Hayes, Kanya Bell, and Tyler Brown. However, Hull’s season was cut short when the CIF declared him ineligible for transferring for athletic reasons.
Since Hull only played one game in his junior year, the Wyoming-bound was not on many colleges’ radar until the end of the senior season. Usually, a recruit’s junior year is the most important since it gives colleges a chance to monitor the player in his senior year.
After his senior season, Hull also garnered interest from UNLV, Nevada, Hawaii, and Washington. However, after an official visit to Wyoming, the senior decided to end his recruiting process and commit to the Cowboys.
Hull is not the only member from the 2013 football team who will play at the collegiate level. Tyler Brown, 2014 DB graduate, is at Northern Arizona while wide receiver Cordell Broadus, son of rapper Snoop Dogg who now plays for Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, committed to UCLA. Bell, who plays at Long Beach Poly Tech, signed his LOI with San Jose State; Hayes, who plays for Juniperro Serra in Gardena, committed to University of Hawaii.
