Diamond Bar High School alumnus Jonathan Peter Strudwick was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Grand Avenue Friday evening.

The 21-year-old Mt. San Antonio College student was driving his 2004 Honda along Grand Avenue near Longview Avenue when the crash occurred.  The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported that while the exact details of the crash are not currently known, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bruce Yuell attributed the crash at least partly to the car’s high speed.

Strudwick was an avid skateboarder and was previously a member of Boy Scout Troop 777. His family was active in the scouting program, especially Cub Scouts, according to Troop 777 Scoutmaster Martin Cardenas.

Strudwick graduated DBHS in 2013, and his brother Matthew is currently a senior on campus.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00AM at St. Denis Church in Diamond Bar on Jan. 27.
