While some teenagers will spend their Halloween trick or treating, some Diamond Bar High School students will be setting up and running the Haunted House at Heritage Park.

On Oct. 30 and 31, Diamond Bar will host its 18th annual haunted house by transforming the Heritage Park Community Center into a ghoulish Hall of Horrors. Diamond Bar residents are invited to participate in this fun-filled event every year to celebrate the sweets and creeps of this holiday. The event will be held at the park, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The inside of the Community Center Building will be maximized by utilizing both the main room and the connected side room, creating an illusion for the extensive maze. Similar to the one at Knott’s Scary Farm, the maze will be completely dark and feature volunteers who will dress up as zombies, clowns, and other monsters in the haunted house to scare attendees.

Students from both DBHS and Diamond Ranch High School will take part in the setup of the haunted house during the week before Halloween.

Due to the great volunteer participation from past years, the Diamond Bar has been encouraged to continue this event for both high schools.

“The reason we continue this event is because of strong volunteers,” Andee Tarazon, Haunted House event coordinator, said. “The strong volunteer base in this community has kept this event as a way for an opportunity for students who want service hours.”

For those who can’t handle the horrors of the Haunted House, Diamond Bar will also host its annual Fall Fun Festival at the same time to present activities for younger children.
